Overview:
Century Payments is based in Frisco, Texas and has been in business since 2009. Considering their young age, it's tough getting a good read on them. They haven't been around long enough to accumulate many reviews (both positive and negative), so we'll have to wait and see how they grow.

According to the BBB, the small amount of complaints that they do have fall under the following categories:

  • Advertising/Sales Issues
  • Billing/Collection Issues
  • Problems with Product/Service

Additionally, a merchant account with Century Payments comes with an early termination fee (ETF) of $495, if you break your contract before the 3-years is up.

You can find them on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.

Between the $495 ETF and the fact that they're so new, Century Payments gets a 3.5 out of 5 rating. I'll keep an eye on them and update their rating once they've aged a bit.

No on-site security features (i.e. McAfee, Security Metrics etc...). The security issue really depends on what kind of information the merchant account provider is collecting from you. If they require you to fill out a full digital application with sensitive info like SSN numbers, then they should definitely have some third-party security in place. Sometimes, and in the case of Century Payments, the initial contact form only requires some basic info, then the real application is taken care of by fax or later on through a secure online app.

Customer Service:
I spoke with a Century Payments rep whom was very helpful in answering my questions. Aside from that, I don't have any experience with them as a merchant. If you've worked with them, please let us know.
