FreeAuthNet.com Review
Merchant Maverick's Rating: (4.5 out of 5)

Last Updated: April 18th, 2010.
You may have stumbled across the FreeAuthNet.com site during your search for a merchant account. They come up on the front page of Google for several keywords including the phrase "merchant account" itself. What you probably didn't know is that FreeAuthNet.com is actually a partnership site between Authorize.Net and Capital Merchant Solutions (CMS).
Until I start reviewing payment gateways, I can't really give Authorize.Net a rating, since a gateway is the only service they provide. However, since the FreeAuthNet.com site is pretty much a merchant account/payment gateway bundle, I can give it a review based on the merchant account side of things. And, since the merchant account is provided by Capital Payment Systems (CMS), you can just take a look at that review to get a better idea of what FreeAuthNet.com has to offer.

A friend of mine have filled out their online application for a “merchant account + gateway” bundle and received a PDF file with a contract to be signed.
Here is the skinny:
Pricing: Differential
Discount rate (qualified) : 2.04%
Non-qualified surcharge: 1.5%
Authorization fee: $0.24
Per Item fee: $0.10
Monthly statement fee: $8.95
Monthly Breach Coverage fee: $6.95
Monthly PCI Compliance fee: $4.47
Annual Fee: $29.95
Monthly Minimum fee: $25
Early Termination fee: $500 (if more than 12 months remain)
Contract term: 3 years
Altogether it’s $47.87/month in fees at $0 sales an the ETF is kinda extreme.
Could anybody comment on those figures?
Thank you.
