NoblePay (Noble Payment Systems) Review

Merchant Maverick's Rating: (3.5 out of 5)

three-and-one-half-stars

Last Updated: April 23rd, 2010.

Overview:
Most of the good info in this review will be found down below under "Negative Reviews" and "Common Complaints", but here's a quick overview.

I think NoblePay is a decent company, and a possible candidate for you to work with, but I wouldn't put them at the top of the list. I gave them a 3.5, which is slightly above average.

NoblePay used to be called PowerPay America before they changed their name in 2008. Not sure what the reason was, but just keep that in mind when you're doing your research on these guys.

They have only a few complaints on RipOffReport, but considering they've only been around since 2008, those few negatives don't bode well for them. Make sure you read my analysis of those complaints listed below.

NoblePay doesn't have a BBB profile or very many testimonials which could definitely help offset any negative reviews they have. Let's hope they get with the program in that regard, til then, make sure you ask for references.

I do like the blog, and Twitter account, which tells me that NoblePay understands what it means to do business in the online age.

A couple minor changes, and a little more history of happy merchants will definitely bring the NoblePay score up in the future, but if they continue to get the kind of complaints that they're getting on ROR, then I might just have to lower their rating.

Doesn't look like NoblePay has a BBB profile.

Negative Reviews:
You'll find 5 complaints on ROR. All 5 complaints are very similar in nature, and unfortunately target the owner of the company as well. A few of them contain rebuttal's from said owner, but regardless, the situation doesn't look good.

Common Complaints:

  1. Some of the complaints mention something about hidden fees, or dishonest rate advertising which is not an uncommon practice in the industry. There's an easy solution to this issue...READ YOUR CONTRACT. I'm not talking about a quick review, but rather a detailed word-for-word read through. Ask about the kind of pricing structure they'll be using. If they're using a tiered-pricing structure, ask them the rate for all tiers, not just the Qualified Rate. Ask about contract terms, cancellation fees and all the so-called hidden fees listed in this complaint.
  2. The second common complaint I noticed was in regards to the NoblePay customer service. This is a difficult one to gauge mainly because it's not uncommon for some merchant service providers to be super accommodating before you sign-up, then "flip" on you once you're their merchant. The best advice I have for you is to get as many references from them as possible. Go to online forums and ask others if they've used NoblePay, ask friends and family as well. These days you want to go with a company that you're 100% sure about. If you have any reservations, walk away, because there are plenty of companies out there that want your business.

Verifiable Testimonials/References:
There's just one testimonial listed on the NoblePay homepage.

Security/Privacy:
The NoblePay site is secure, but I'm not sure by which security provider.

Customer Service:
I haven't worked with NoblePay in the past, so help us out if you have.

Contract Duration:
I was told that NoblePay does not "lock" you into a contract, which is probably true for the merchant account itself, but might not apply to equipment leases which are usually contracted by a third-party. Be sure to clarify both the merchant account contract term and your equipment lease term before you sign up.

Cancellation Fee:
No cancellation fee so long as you provide a 30-day cancellation notice.

Interchange-Plus Pricing:
Interchange-plus pricing is offered by NoblePay.

Seasonal Downtime:
Seasonal downtime is also offered.

Product/Service Offering:
Retail, Telephone Order, iPhone, Wireless, Check Processing, Gift/Loyalty, High Risk Processing.

Product/Service Specialty:
None in particular.

  1. Thanks for the review of NoblePay!

NoblePay is a big supplier within the photography industry and has a large presence within most of the photography forums so you’ll find plenty of positive talk & testimonials regarding NoblePay.

In addition NoblePay has a decent presence within the internet marketing community.

When you market on forums you better do the right thing or you’ll lose all credibility which is why we felt the need to submit a rebuttal on the rip off report even though we feel they were bogus complaints.

We don’t do as much broad internet marketing on Google like others you’re review which may be why you’re not seeing the testimonials you’re seeking but I will certainly take that under advisement and make some changes to our site to bring that element to the table.
