Paymerica Merchant Alliance Review
Merchant Maverick's Rating: (3 out of 5)

Overview:
Definitely not on my list of top MSP's to do business with, but I wouldn't rule out Paymerica completely. They're the company you go with when all the other, better, MSP's have turned your application down.
Good news is, I didn't find very many complaints about them, so that's obviously a plus. I did, however, contact some of the testimonials on their site, and the fact that the only response I received was from a merchant who never recalled leaving the testimonial, was a bit fishy to me.
What strikes me as most suspicious about them is that both their California and Florida business licenses are either inactive or canceled. It could be because of their recent acquirment by Yapstone Incorporated...maybe they're consolidating.
The BBB profiles for both of those locations have a, slightly above average rating, with just a few complaints on each (see below).

Date Established:
2003.
Parent/Partner Company:
Yapston Inc. recently acquired Paymerica LLC, and back in 2003 Paymerica signed a deal with Payment Data Systems, but I'm not sure if they're still working together or not. Lots of mergers and acquisitions going on these days. ISO's and MSP's are hurting for cash flow, so you can expect this trend to continue well into 2010.
Type:
Registered ISO/MSP of Wells Fargo Bank.
Trust Symbols:
Paymerica has two separate BBB profile's located here and here. Both profile's are hovering around a "B" rating as of this review.
Security/Privacy:
Their site is secured by McAfee.
Customer Service:
I haven't dealt with their customer service myself, and the questions that I did ask of them, I didn't receive a response for.
Negative Reviews:
I found pretty much the same complaint posted in three different places; here, here and here. Either those three sites share their data, or that is one pissed off customer. Either way, only one complaint in six years of business, isn't bad at all.
Common Complaints:
I'm gonna need more than one complaint to find anything in common with them.
Verifiable Testimonials/References:
I contacted most of the testimonials on the Paymerica site, and only received one response. The merchant that responded to me had no recollection of ever writing the testimonial. So either, it was a fake, or my contact has a horrible memory.
Locality:
Carlsbad, California and/or Jacksonville, Florida.
Product Offering:
Retail, Restaurant, Lodging, Phone/Mail Order, Internet, Mobile, Debit, Check Processing, Gift & Loyalty Cards.
Specialty:
None in particular.
