User Review and Comment Policy
One of the biggest problems that other review and complaint sites face, is user-generated content pollution. If left unchecked user reviews and comments can become a breading ground for flame wars, fake positive reviews and fake complaints. My goal with Merchant Maverick is to fix all of that. I'm more focused on quality reviews and comments rather than quantity.
I know all of you merchants will appreciate reading user reviews that are authentic, and all of you providers will know that any complaints left on MerchantMaverick.com will be from legitimate business owners that have used your services.
General Rules
I'll keep the general rules short and sweet.
- Be cool. Critical is fine, but rude is not.
- Add value to the conversation.
- Be descriptive."This company sucks!" is not enough info.
- If you use a dead email address, your review/comments will not be published.
- No self-promoting on another provider's review.
- No personal attacks.
- No name dropping.
- No flame wars.
If you have any questions or suggestions, let me know.
Positive User Review
Definition: Any type of praise for a specific merchant service provider is considered a positive review.
Rules: Positive user reviews will only be published if they are fully-disclosed. Full-disclosure includes, full-name, company name and a valid email address.
If the merchant can provide proof that they've worked with the merchant service provider within the last 6-months, the review will be branded with the official Merchant Maverick “Authenticated Review” badge, and will be weighed heavily during the next rating update.

(Authenticated Review Badge)
If the merchant declines to authenticate their review, it will still be posted without the badge, but won't be considered during the next rating update.
Negative User Review (aka Complaint)
Definition: Any type of complaint against a specific merchant service provider is considered a negative review.
Rules: I understand that some folks will not want to publicly display their contact information if they're posting a negative review, so full-disclosure will not be necessary in this case. However, the complaining merchant must provide a valid email address so I can privately contact them myself. I will then proceed to try and authenticate the negative review through the same authentication process listed in the positive review section. Without that type of verification, the complaining party's review will not be posted on MerchantMaverick.com.
*Note: Your contact information will never be disclosed to your provider.
Provider Rebuttal
Definition: A provider rebuttal is either a general response or a reply to a positive or negative review that the provider has received on MerchantMaverick.com.
Rules: Provider rebuttals will only be published if they are fully-disclosed. Full-name, company name and contact information. No exceptions. That includes all current sales reps and associates of the provider.
No trackbacks yet.

What is an “Authenticated Review”? I need to know because I have an APCO representative driving me crazy – persistently calling me, nagging me to move my merchant account to their company. I came online to look for reviews to give more of a reason than “I just changed processors in July (2011) and I am not interested in changing processors again so soon. I assume an “authenticated review” has been researched and found to be valid. Is that correct?

Peggy,
That’s correct. Authenticated reviews are from merchants whom I’ve personally validated by either having them send me a contract or statement that shows they’ve done business with the company in which they are reviewing.

Thank you so much for the response. I’ve had recent experience with EVO Merchant Services, AllState Merchant Services and Co-Card. I don’t see any mention of the latter two on this site. Is there any information on here about them?
Although I am a seasoned credit-card merchant, having accepted credit cards for my bed & breakfast for about 15 years, I find the number of companies, subsidiaries, resellers, etc….to be very confusing. Googling for APCO reviews brought me to your site.
Thanks again.

Peggy,
I haven’t reviewed AllState or CoCard yet, but will definitely do so in the near future.

I signed up with Transfirst in June 2011 when I opened my Chiropractic business, I spoke with [name removed] who told me that I was not entered into any contract and that there were NO monthly bills and I could leave anytime I want!! He rushed me along to sign up and oh boy was I a fool (this was my first dealing with merchant accounts)!! I had $5.00 monthly fees, $30.00 Quartely fees, a percentage minimum to reach in total sales otherwise I was charged $25.00 and I would have to pay $500 to leave before 3 years!! These people are the ABSOLUTE WORST business I have ever dealt with, they are scammers and their customer service is terrible!! Please DO NOT sign up with them!!!

Just try to cancel your contract with Moneris. They have a feE schedule that is referred to and never available. It says see section 19 and there is no page 4 or section 19. I have been trying to work with the company for over 6 months and they are so big, they can cancel you at anytime but you can never cancel them. They take your largest 3 months in your 3 year history and that is your cancellation or early termination fee, not the standard 250 try 2600. I have filed with the BBB and they debited my account anyway. They have raised their rates, April, then again in June, it is in tiny print on the last page of your statement. Beware ! Also you have to cancel 6 months prior to the end of your contract in writing. Beware of being grandfathered in when they buy out a company too !! Beware of sales people selling you great things from a company that has their best interests at heart. Beware of the qualified vs non-qualified transactions, you could be charged 4% of the sale. Beware, they are Gods and you are just a stupid merchant and they hold all the power and can do whatever they want to you. GET OUT, CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT AS SOON AS YOU CAN, MONERIS IS A BAD WORD FOR MERCHANT SERVICES.
