Looking for a shopping cart where you can sell products from your own server? X-cart may be the right eCommerce solution for you.

2Checkout Review (Now Verifone)

Compatibility with virtually all shopping carts makes 2Checkout a more viable option for many eCommerce merchants than other alternatives (such as Stripe or PayPal). This broad compatibility and wide international availability make the company an excellent choice for those who don’t need to accept card-present transactions.

Franpos Review (Formerly iConnect POS)

Franpos has established itself as a solid all-in-one system and is particularly useful in the salon world. It specifically caters to franchises and service industry establishments with special feature requirements (booking, scheduling, checking in and out, employee-specific service rates, rentals, and recurring memberships).

Cube Review

NOTE: Cube has been discontinued. Find a list of our top-rated POS alternatives here. Overview: Cube is a cloud-based point of sale software designed for the iPad and it’s a relatively new player on the POS scene. Co-founders Charlie Pinto and Charlie Christner released the Cube app on iTunes in late 2012 after a private, yearlong […]

Zen Cart Review

Zen Cart is an open-source eCommerce shopping cart software for the web-savvy. The software, based on PHP/MySQL, is fully customizable and completely free to download. You can trace Zen Cart’s ancestry back to osCommerce; in fact, it used to be a part of osCommerce. The two companies split in 2003 when Zen Cart wanted to make some major architectural changes to the software. Most of the new development is now done by volunteers who are dedicated to maintaining the project.

Retail Pro POS Review

Available only through a network of partner resellers, Retail Pro says its specialty POS works for both single-location boutiques and chain stores, with add-ons for eCommerce, detailed analytics, and more. But can you really run a retail empire on this POS system?

Paya Review (Formerly Sage Payment Solutions)

The payment processing industry is very competitive, with a huge number of providers vying for your business. While only a few are truly excellent, many others are just awful. Paya currently falls somewhere in the middle of these two extremes, sticking close to the industry standard in terms of pricing and contract terms, but not offering any exceptional products or services that distinguish it from other providers.

Global Payments Review

With a company such as Global Payments, the name speaks for itself. It’s common knowledge that Global runs a large, successful, highly capable payment processing business. This is not a fly-by-night operation. However, just because a business is successful does not mean that it’s a good proposition for all of its customers.

iPhone Virtual Terminals: The Mobile Merchant’s Friend

I love my iPhone. It’s fun, it’s cool, it even helps me be more productive with all of its business/productivity apps. I wish I could mess around with it more (don’t have time), but I still love the possibilities it offers me. The iPhone is a disruptive technology because it’s changed the way most […]
