We believe that Helcim is one of the best POS systems for businesses in the retail, subscription, and/or service industry, especially B2B and B2G businesses, with higher average transaction sizes and higher monthly sales volumes. This is because larger businesses will be charged lower per-transaction payment processing fees under Helcim's interchange-plus payment processing model.

KORONA POS is a good POS solution, though I still see room for growth. In the future, I'd particularly like to see continued improvement in inventory management features and a native online ordering platform. It would also be nice to see a wider selection of pre-built integrations.

Loyverse is a completely free POS app. It even includes a loyalty program, and if you need more advanced features, the monthly add-ons are reasonably priced. See if Loyverse might be right for your small business!

NCR Silver gets high marks for its ease of use, flexibility, and built-in marketing tools. Unfortunately, while NCR makes solidly good POS software, its Silver product suffers from other issues -- namely, the restrictive service contract foisted on merchants who want to purchase the system.

With its old-fashioned licensing setup and Windows-based system, QuickBooks POS can’t compete with cloud-based POS systems in pricing or features. Still, it’s functional and might have a lot of appeal to diehard Quickbooks Desktop users.

With multiple pricing plans, systems, and features, businesses of all sizes can use SpotOn. Throw in an easy-to-use and intuitive UI, plenty of add-ons and integrations, and numerous positive reviews from past and current customers, and it's not hard to see why SpotOn is a worthy contender in the POS space.

With a full POS system and free booking site, Square Appointments offers a lot of value for salons and independent stylists. But as with other Square products, it only makes sense if you commit to using Square Payments as well, which can be a great convenience or a severe limitation.

Very few, if any, free POS offerings will give you inventory features as easy to use or as robust as Square delivers. Its trademark functionality makes Square breeze to set up and use but, if your business has extensive or complicated inventory needs, you may need to spring for something a little more advanced.
