The Complete Guide To Wix Pricing & Plans
There’s just no getting around it: Wix is the Goliath of the DIY website building industry. Wix is known for being a free website builder. While Wix does offer a great free option for startups and young businesses, the truth is that Wix’s many fans often end up pulling out their credit cards before hitting the Publish button on what started out to be a “free” website.
You definitely can use an attractive, no-cost Wix website to establish a professional online presence. That free site, though, will come with limited storage and features — and Wix branding on every page as well as in the URL.
So is paying for a plan the smart route to take?
It depends. The first step is understanding Wix’s different pricing plans and what each extra dollar you spend gets you in return.

How Much Does Wix Cost?
Wix offers an almost dizzying array of free templates you can customize for your website. And you’ll find a similar variety when it comes to Wix pricing. It’s really up to you to determine what your Wix website will cost, depending on the features and benefits you want. Once you move past the free plan, base costs range from $13 to $39 per month for a basic website. If you want to add an eCommerce option to your site, you’ll choose one of the Business plans, ranging in price from $23 to $49 per month; the Enterprise plan has a $500 monthly price tag.

How Do Wix Pricing Plans Work?
Wix’s pricing plans are fairly straightforward, and they fall into two categories: basic plans, and what Wix calls “Business plans” that support eCommerce. Within those two categories, the add-ons are cumulative, meaning that the top-tier plans include all the extras from each of the lower-level plans. Both types of plans differ significantly from the free option, so let’s start with that.
When you sign up with Wix to get a free website, it comes with the following.
- Full use of Wix’s design and editing platform
- 500MB storage
- Unlimited pages
- Site hosting
- Wix-branded domain
- Wix ads on every page
Considering the fact that all of that comes with a price tag of $0, it’s really not a bad deal. Specifically, Wix’s offering of unlimited pages with your free website is quite generous. Many competitors limit the number of pages a non-paying user can have — if they offer a free plan at all. However, if you want to take better advantage of Wix’s feature-laden platform, have the option of viewing analytics, take payments online, and to do all that on your own domain without any pesky ads, you’ll want to take a look at one of Wix’s paid plans.
Wix offers a variety of ways to pay for its plans. So whatever you end up choosing, be sure to consider the various payment options. You may find that you can save a few dollars by signing up for one, two, or three years in advance and paying annually vs. making monthly payments — if that fits your budget. No matter what, be sure to take advantage of the free 14-day offer that will let you test-drive your website before you pay a penny.

When you move beyond the free plan, you gain access to an increasing number of tempting features that may make the price tag seem well worth it. Wix’s plans can be paid monthly or yearly; if you choose the annual Wix subscription, you’ll receive a slight discount. Wix occasionally offers sales periods, with up to 50% off plans, too, so shop wisely.

The prices on the following table are for annual subscribers. Paying for a year in advance offers significant savings vs. paying month to month. That said, be sure to take advantage of Wix’s 14-day free trial. You can test out the site you’ve created and make sure you like what you see. When the trial runs out, you may want to pay month-to-month for a short time while you continue to test the site and make sure it’s worth making a 12-month investment.

Wix eCommerce Plans Compared
Besides additional storage capacity, the biggest difference between the plans above and Wix’s Business plans is the ability to add an online store. If you’re not convinced that will meet your needs, consider upgrading to one of Wix’s Business Plans. Here’s how each Business Plan stacks up. If you still don’t see a plan that meets your needs, request a call from Wix to discuss the Enterprise Plan, which is listed at $500 per month.

Additional Wix Fees & Rates
You’ve picked your perfect package, and you’re done with decision-making, right? Well, not quite. You still have a few options to consider. Each one comes with its own price tag, and can be added to your Wix website package.
It’s a little disappointing that Wix accounts do not automatically include an email option, especially on their eCommerce-enabled plans. The good news? You can add a cloud-based solution, G Suite by Google. The not-so-good news? You’ll pay an additional base fee of $6 per email address per month. You can also purchase an email account elsewhere and connect it to your Wix site. Just be sure to factor those additional costs into your website budget.
On the plus side, Wix does offer helpful step-by-step instructions that will make adding email relatively easy.
Payment Processing Fees
Wix Payment allows you to accept payment for online sales directly through your Wix website, without using an outside payment gateway. Expect to pay 30 cents for every credit or debit card transaction, plus 2.9 percent of the total. If you’re doing business outside the United States, you may be able to accept some different payment methods, with slightly lower fees.
Hosting
All paid Wix accounts include a free domain name for one year. After that, you can expect to pay $14.95 per year. If you choose a premium plan, you can purchase your own domain name, or connect one you already own, for a fee that will vary depending on a variety of factors, including how long you wish to pay for the domain and what domain extension you prefer.
Wix Integrations & Add-Ons
Wix allows you to integrate some useful outside apps, but before you start adding them piecemeal, take a look at an in-house option: Ascend by Wix.

Ascend may make sense for users who have the money to spend on an annual subscription and want an all-in-one solution. That’s not the route for everyone, though. You can integrate some great free apps that you may already be using. And one of the things Wix does very well is make it easy to integrate outside apps.
Other integrations include the following:
Mailchimp
If you’re not familiar with Mailchimp, read our full Mailchimp review. In a nutshell, it’s an email marketing platform available in both free and paid versions, and Wix makes it easy to integrate Mailchimp on your Wix website, so that contacts from your web forms are automatically added to your Mailchimp list. (Your existing contacts won’t be automatically added, but Wix includes instructions that will walk you through the process easily.)
QuickBooks
Sync your site with QuickBooks automatically after each transaction, after you integrate QuickBooks by OneSaas to your Wix website. If you don’t already use QuickBooks, you can sign up for a subscription or free trial to create an account. Wix offers 10 QuickBook video tutorials to assist you in setting up and integrating the program.
ShipStation
Add this leading shipping software solutions to your Wix website to make shipping orders a breeze. You can buy and print shipping labels and packing slips, ship packages with your preferred carrier, and allow customers to track their orders. ShipStation will sync with Wix Stores, so that all your orders will appear automatically in your ShipStation dashboard. Read our ShipStation review.
HubSpot
If you’re not an expert on inbound marketing, here’s what you need to know: the best way to gain new customers is to have them find you, with the alternative being aggressive and sometimes expensive marketing strategies. Fortunately, an app like HubSpot (read our full HubSpot review) delivers the expertise you need. It’s a free tool to manage all aspects of your interactions with customers, from adding a new contact to your database to building your sales funnel. You can upgrade your HubSpot subscription if you think the price is worth it.
How To Save On Wix
Once you decide to take your website beyond the free level, start calculating the costs of the add-ons that will make your site function the way you want it to. There are some obvious differences between the plans, and it all boils down to what you want your website to do for you.
1) Only Pay For What You’ll Use
Want to establish an online presence, without clear goals for selling products or services? Don’t pay for things you’re not likely to need or to miss if you skip them.
Similarly, if you want an all-in-one solution to sales management, look into a service like Ascend by Wix. You may be able to save money, though, by integrating services and apps you already pay for elsewhere. And if there are just one or two features you like in a bundle, whether that’s Ascend or a Business plan that allows eCommerce, look at what’s included in the bundle and make sure you’re not paying for more than you’ll actually use. Wix makes it easy to upgrade later, as your needs grow and your plans come into focus.
2) Pay Now, Save Later
No matter what plan you choose, be sure to take advantage of the 14-day trial plan, no matter what plan you opt for. That will let you test-drive your web site and decide if you want to take it up a level or perhaps to drop back down. Once you’re comfortable with a plan, consider paying once a year. You’ll save anywhere from 17% to 33%, depending on the plan you choose, when you pay annually instead of monthly or lock in a lower rate for two or three years. The longer your subscription, the less you’ll pay on a per-month basis.
3) Hunt For Bargains
Wix periodically offers savings of up to 50% in the first year of a paid plan. A simple search online will help you locate coupon codes you can activate to save, too.
4) Consider The Value of Wix Freebies
From Google Analytics to a professional logo maker and online advertising vouchers, a paid Wix plan will include some valuable freebies. If you’re likely to use those things, consider their value when you calculate the cost of your Wix plan. If you’re unlikely to use those freebies, though, they don’t really add any value to your account and you shouldn’t be tempted by them.
Wix Website VS Wix eCommerce: Which Plan Is Right For Me?
One of the most important decisions you’ll make with a Wix website is whether to go with a basic plan or a business plan. Fortunately, that’s not a decision you need to make right away! Start by choosing a template, importing some photos and videos, add some pages, put in some text, and then sit back and take a look. What’s missing from your new website? You’re getting closer to the point when you can make the right decision about what plan you should choose.
Choose A Wix Website Plan If …
- You want a lower-cost website that looks good and functions well to help you establish an online presence
- You’re still exploring what a website can mean for you
- You don’t plan to offer online sales right now
- You don’t need a lot of storage on your website
Choose A Wix eCommerce Plan If …
- You’re ready to expand your online presence
- eCommerce plays a role on your ideal website
- You like the idea of greater storage for photos and videos
- Sales and visitor analytics are important to you
The Bottom Line: Is Wix Worth The Cost?

Hello,
I want to bring my own domain name to Wix. Is this going to cost me US$18 per month for a premium plus $13 per month for hosting? That will be $31 per month for a basic setup which is too costly. Is there not a less costly way?
René
Hi Rene,
All Wix plans include hosting, but you need a paid plan to hook up your own domain. So a basic Combo plan would cost $14/mo. (if paid annually) total, according to the Wix website as of today’s date. (The $18 plan you referenced is the Unlimited plan and it includes more storage space and video hours, plus ad vouchers, an analytics app, and so on.) I hope that answers your question!
